I have a Lionhead doe who I have bred twice. Both times she has pulled fur halfway through the pregnancy. I bred her on May 28th, and today I found that she has pulled fur again.
The first breeding didn't produce any kits. The buck she was bred to is a proven buck. What is causing her to do this?

A doe that has been mounted by another rabbit (either a buck or another doe) can develop a false pregnancy. Some does that are experiencing a false pregnancy will pull fur as it ends. Some does can go to "full term" with a false pregnancy, others stop at some point (2-3 weeks is more typical). If you palpate the doe and find nothing, she may have just ended a false pregnancy. If that is what has happened, you might try breeding the doe again, right away. Does experience a hormonal peak right when a pregnancy ends, and are at their most fertile at that time.

Good luck!
