Hey BYHer's I am back with another ignorant question.
:/ So I have been trying to decide what to use as a fence boundry for rotating pasture. I thouhgt about putting up field fence with a wire on the top and bottom. But this electro netting http://www.ebay.com/itm/360198414757?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 seems so much more convinient. Does anyone have any experience with it? Any pros/cons how long does it last? I have a 6 strand electric wire fence that works great at keeping everyone in except our billy he enjoys the shock and can be found rubbingon it getting zapped on occasion. Sadistic little perv that he is. :he Anyway I have a 4 acre plot I am wanting to fence at least for the winter. I am considering woven wire high tensel and the elctro net stuff as it will be along the road I dont want someone steeling him while he is out. Inside the fance I dont have to worry as the LGD keeps strangers at bay (Except the phone company) I swear I think they tranc him or something cause he will be asleep the entire time they are in the fence doing something and wont even come to get a treat he just lifts his head when I call and lays back down. Or they just give him enough treats that he is over them lol.:smack Thanks for yo time and info.

It looks similar to part of what I have. I am using it in uneven ground that is very hard, I have to be very careful putting it in the ground I have bent the stakes. Right now I use a drill to predrill the holes before I am putting the stakes in the ground. There is a lot of space between the posts and I have to make or jurry rig extra posts. I like the plus like at Premier 1. I think this is the link http://www.premier1supplies.com/detail.phpprod_id=78479&cat_id=53 I use it for sheep. For a while I had my lowline cow in it but she ran through it when the coyotes were near her. I have had them about 3 months so I can not tell you how long they last.

I use it for my sheep all the time. If you are using it for goats, I'm not so sure, especially with your sick perv. He will knock it right down and go over it. Heck, he might even eat it!

It has lasted very well, I move it around a lot. It will fall down occasionally in heavy rain/wind, but my sheep fear it, they won't walk over it. I have mine on a solar charger so I can move it around anywhere. I really like it.

Oh, and you can get it for $129 from Farmtek.

We have a lot of the premier fencing. We use it for the does, but the bucks are hard fenced. It works well as long as the goats are not trying to escape.

I use the Premier fencing as well (super good quality and great customer service) and love it. I would only buy the double spike posts, that way you can step them in (they also sell a single spike for slightly less).

I hate the double spikes. In our area, the ground is so rocky that double spikes are extremely difficult to put in. The decision about single vs double is highly soil dependent.

Well, we don't have rocky soil but we do have hard, dry droughty soil in the summers and I can't imagine being able to push a single spike in at all! In fact, one of my double spikes broke off and I hate it!! :p

If you have sheep that do not challenge fences it can be great. I have Finns and CVM's. They won't bother it. One year I bought a Blue Faced Liecester and she got stuck in it more than 3 times. Luckily it was not on when she did that. She ripped it in several different places. If you are only using it for dividing pastures or making runs, and they like where you have them go for it. After my experience with her I rolled it up and put it storage.

I used to get lazy and leave the fence off, but with animals in it. After having a few lambs get stuck, and ewe, I only use it when it's charged now. Never had them get stuck with it on...but I can't leave it off or else they'll challenge it.

Awsome thank you all so much:D. I think I will just use woven wire and run a hightensil fence with a large gate I can open and close then I dont have to worry about anyone trying to get stuck in it on or off. The girls are way broke to electric fence so I know they would not be a problem but I have had many many deer run through my fence. Where this fence is going has a pond on it and there are usually just deer and an occasioinal coyote fox or bear. They all have learned not to touch the electric and the LGD's keep most everything out "there is a young deer that for some reason they let in the pasture but it jumps the fence".
