She is due today or tomorrow. I checked her around 2pm and she was laying down in the stall. I added more alfalfa to the feeder. She got up but did not attack the fresh alfalfa. Leaking a tad discharge.
Now 4 hours later, She has swollen vulva, leaking more of clear discharge and has a good hard udder that she has been developing for the past couple of weeks. It was firm even this morning so I know she is super close, but how close? Ligaments appear (to my first time knowledge) to be gone.

She hasn't been drinking or eating. I see no kid yet. How long can this stage last?

Oh what do contractions look like? Almost like heaving to vomit?
I just came out again and lots more discharge/goo.

I should have found a video before this minute. Phone is almost dead so I can't find one now...

She looks tired. Rests her eyes in between contractions.

My phone went dead so I had to run in the house and put it on the charger.

It was the perfect birth. Finally saw a bulge and then a few pushes later we saw hooves and a nose and a mouth with tongue sticking out. Fast after that the doeling just slid out. Up trying to walk so fast but was tethered by the cord. Then we watched as the cord broke. Amazing. My four year old got to watch as well as DH and I. So educational.

The doe flopped over glassy eyed after she gave birth (thought there was an issue) but then sat up after about a minute.

She was born around 6:20 I think based on how fast it got dark after. Ethel got up finally. I didn't see the placenta delivered. But I came in around 7:15 after I grabbed the doeling and helped her to nurse.

Ethel wasn't standing for her but I helped her get there for a couple of chances at colostrum. I will make sure I see some good nursing tomorrow.
