I found some blood stain and skid mark on the road by our house yesterday...prettty fresh judging by the color. A neighbor said a bear cub was hit Sunday nights. Mama bear and another cub took off running. Last night DH came home and saw some remains of a deer.... Without knowing about the bear incident, we thought something had dragged the 'road kill' onto our property and had a feast. Now I am wondering if the bears might have found some deer remain and dragged it over and feasted.

Something cleaned it off pretty well...

How far do they drag their prey? I am beginning to think the cub had it's last meal before getting hit...rather than mom and other cub came back for the meal... Poor kid.

Around here, cougars leave a whole lot more than that when they kill a calf. They'll eat most of the hind qtr and maybe some guts, but nothing like that one above has been chewed on. Never heard of any being hauled off in this part of the country--they don't have much competition..

When we butcher a deer, we skin and bone the carcass while it is hanging. This carcass looks an awful lot like it one that might have been cleaned by a hunter that uses our method, discarded and found by dogs/coyotes etc.

Yeah, it is pretty clean...no other blood/stain around...just a lot of the fur around the property. I like your version... :)

X3 Looks very familiar to me. Guessing someone either just dumped it or didn't bury it very deep and then something else dug it up and cleanned off the bones.
