Don't pull the placenta, it will come out on its own. If you try to pull it out it could break off and a part be retained. If she is crying for her lambs, you can try putting the sac from the one that is still in it on the rejected lamb to see if she will accept him. Does she have any milk? See if you can tie her up and get him to suck. You might get lucky and get her to accept him. How old is he?

All the lambs look small. Pretty colors. Such a shame. Since you didn't know how far along she was, they might have come slightly early. Also depending on the part of the country you are in and the type of hay or grazing they had they might have been low on selenium or some other essential mineral that would cause them to be born early or very weak. Call your vet and ask who would perform a necropsy on the triplets.

Having triplets at 11 months old is a lot for such a young ewe. However the fact that she cleaned them up, is a sign that next time she is bred she will be a successful mom.

Thank you so much for caring to check in! The ewe seems to be doing well. The lamb is now fully transitioned to life back outside after about 10 days inside and a couple days out and and nights in. He seems to be doing fine and got really chunky while we were feeding him inside. We still feed him outside twice a day-morning and night.
We are waiting for our last ewe to give birth. Hopefully hers will be healthy.

So our second first year ewe just delivered triplets at further along in term than the last mom, but they are all dead too. What are we doing wrong!?! Might there be too much time between water bag and delivery? Our two experienced moms delivered no problem. We have one more first year mom to deliver. Not expecting it to be successful either.

What minerals do you use? This is sounding like a mineral deficiency.

I use this. Buy a 50 lb bag of plain stock salt at the feed store and mix together. I put it in a plastic kitchen trash can with a lid.

I also put out dolomite garden lime. Pulverized, not the pellets. You can usually find it in garden centers. Read the bag to make sure it is dolomite.
