just been out feeding the piggies and i see one eye on my boar is closed, stuck shut even with sticky goo. he's not the easiest mini pig to catch and keep still........should i attempt to clean off the goo? can salt water be used to flush it clean?
Don't know pig issues specifically, but....I'd use saline solution sold for contact lens wearers. It is safe for use in the eye and it is sterile and easy to use. You can get it in many different stores for about $2 and can get a "gentle" version that won't sting. It comes out of the bottle in a stream and is great for flushing eyes. I've used it on horses and goats.
But stuck eyelids probably means conjunctivitis, not just a "dirty" eye. Your pig will need diagnosis and treatment. Sorry! Maybe he will be easier to catch with a blind side...
