I have 2 Pygmy goats about 3 months old. Both Wethers.
1 of them has 1 eye that looks swollen and is really cloudy.
I am putting Terramycin antibiodic ointment in it.
Can you tell me how long I should use it?
I am not sure if it is pinkeye or just an eye injury. The other goat does not have it.
It does not seem to bother the little one at all, not watering or seeping anything.
The eye is just coudy, not red or anything and it looks a lot larger than the other.
I am new to goats so I cannot tell what is wrong.
I did call my vet and he said it could be pinkeye or an eye injury and to put in the antibiodic ointment.
Does anyone have any ideas? Possibly just blind in that eye?
Any suggestions or help would be great. I would really like to help the little feller see better.

Swelling means there's a cellular immune response, which indicates the presence of pro-inflammatory cytokines like Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha, Interferon Gamma, TH1-activated macrophages, etc...all of which indicate that his body's trying fight "non-self" invader.

Which is to say that he's probably got a hayseed in his eye and his eyeball's trying to eat it. :)

Plus, if you're heading into winter wherever you are, it's less likely to be pinkeye since pinkeye is a highly contagious bacterial infection that's most commonly transmitted from goat to goat by flies and gnats and so forth.. Fewer flies = less pinkeye.

Grab a flashlight, put him in a stanchion, jerk his eyelids open, and have a look around. If you see the offending object, yank it out. Continue the antibiotic ointment to prevent/treat secondary infection until he clears up.

In the meantime, if you want, you could give him some banamine to help with the pain and swelling.

Good luck. :)

How often are you putting the Terramycin in his eye? If you can, do it 4 times a day but a minimum of 2 times per day.

I live in Southern Indiana which it is now just getting to be fall weather.

I put the salve in twice a day. I work all day so I can't put it in too much more or I will get it in too close together. Not sure how close is too close and how long I need to put it in.

It looks to me like his eye is not as swollen as it was (getting a little better) but it is cloudy and has a white spot in the middle, which is why I thought it was pink eye.

He doesn't act like it bothers him at all. Still has his crazy appetite and goofy as ever.
