When do you start feeding grain to new goat kids? Do I use special goat feed for kids or do they get the same feed that the adult goats get? Thanks!

I start putting out little bits (ie. ~ 1/4 of a cup) for them to pick at around 3-4 weeks of age. I use the same feed as the adults get.

Same here. Mine weren't eating a lot of it until about 6 weeks though. Now they love it. :p

I use a goat feed that is medicated to help keep cocci at bay. The adults don't get it, only the kids and my kids don't get the dairy ration grain. I start them at 3-4 weeks as well.

 I feed a medicated feed to the momma goats from birth of the kids until weaning. The kids from birth have access to the feed as well as free choice high protein grass hay. The kids usually nibble on the hay and feed starting at 2 weeks of age. In a sense, it is like creep feeding.

I would feed it too mom too, except I milk and there is a milk withholding time. It would be ok for the boers though.

 I knew about the withholding period but I guess I wasn't thinking from the dairy prospective since I don't milk my dairy girls, I let their babies do that. LOL! I think there's a 30 day withdrawal period for slaughter and milk with the coccidiastat in most of the medicated feeds.

I feed a pelleted feed. Is that the same as feeding grain?
