Hello all!
I’m new here and ready to learn about goats. Specifically Nigerian Dwarf Goats.
I’m hoping to get 2-3 wethers in the fall or spring. I would do it tomorrow but it’s going to take some time to get everything built. We don’t have a ton of land- just 2 acres and some of it is woods. I have a few random questions regarding keeping a few goats.
1. Do these dimensions sound ok..
Secure Goat house 10x10 feet
Enclosure- 40x75 feet with some of it in the woods. About 3,000 square feet.
Should I split this up into two areas or leave it as one? Is this area too small?
2. This is probably more for when they are babies/little but are hawks ever an issue? I have a nesting pair of Red Shouldered Hawks in the area that are the reason my chickens no longer free range. I’m not sure the max size for their prey.
3. I’m reading random things about parasites. Is this something I have to worry about with my dogs or kids? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Just want to make sure I’m protecting everyone else too.
