Kendall started developing her udder early February. Well, she actually started developing half of her udder - only her right side. I left it alone thinking that the other side would soon 'catch up'. And it did. :)

Up until yesterday her udder looked normal, and I didn't notice this until I stanchion-trained her about half an hour ago.

:barnie What do you think? Her teat is actually swollen. I think it hurts when I touch it because she was moving around and lifting her leg up when I did (she usually just squats down when I touch her teats).
She's due April 16th.

Thank you...

I would be concerned and watchful. Is it possible that she injured it on something? Do you have things that she can climb on where she might have slipped? Could something have bitten her? Was this the side that was bigger first?

There are does that freshen with mastitis and trust me, I would never wish this on anyone. I don't think that there is much you can do at this point, you can't do a CMT test on a goat that isn't in milk. I think that the best you can do right now is watch and wait.

She doesn't really have anything in her pasture that she can climb on, there is an old pig pen it's about three feet high, but I haven't seen her on it for a couple months. That's the only thing besides a fallen tree - but that isn't even one foot off the ground.
I highly doubt something bit her, the LGD doesn't mess with Kendall, and Kendall wouldn't let her anywhere near her udder. o_O

Yes, that is the side that was bigger in the beginning.

I can't tell that much difference in the size of the two sides just the teat on the right kicking out like it does
The teat on the right does look a little bigger
I got no ideas other than to monitor for now

This morning the teat was still big, but when I just stanchion-trained her about fifteen minutes ago, and it was normal again.

Goats can be irritating at times.
