Okay, I have been breeding Nigerian dwarf goats for 3 years and I am now offering to ship kids if needed. Can you give me a run down of what I'd have to do in order to fly them?

Greetings LKM and welcome to BYH. I'm not sure but there are a couple of folks who may have some idea. I know they've shipped dogs. Not sure about goats.

@Southern by choice @babsbag @Goat Whisperer Not really sure about anyone else, but hopefully this will give things a start. Browse around a bit and make yourself at home. We're all addicted to pics, so if you have a few you could share, we'd all be most appreciative. :D =D Glad to have another goatie with us!

I haven't shipped goats, only puppies. The biggest hurdle is the temperature requirements. Every airline is different but they all have a temperature range at every airport the flight will land at. I used American Airlines to fly puppies and their requirement is 85° for a high and (I don't remember at all) the low temp. I wanted to fly a goat out from NC but it was too hot in Texas so I couldn't do it.

Also has anybody every purchased from "Fields of Grace Farm" in Seiverville, TN? Did you have to make the trip to pick them up or could you use a hauler? I'm thinking about buying a buck or two from them in the Spring and between work and school it would be very hard to make a 4 hour trip up and back with a goat.

 Forgive me for laughing. 4 hours is nothing.
Is that 4hrs round trip or one way?
Round trip leave at 6am get home by noon that gives extra 2 hours with breeder and lunch.
8 hr round trip leave at 6am get home at 4pm with 2 hours leeway.

No way I'd ship anything unless it was on the opposite coast. ;)

Where are you?
There are some animals in TN and GA I'd like to see.

I have been in a car for 13 hours to North Carolina, I know 4 hours is nothing. But in the Spring I'm working, and also have school. It's a one way trip. It would also be very difficult for my mom to get off work to go with me. It's just a little complicated and the hauler quoted $200 which personally I think is okay and worth it to get 2 Bucks down here.

I can definitely understand the work and school issue... But that (anything really) never stopped me from driving cross country for something I wanted. I drove from my home in Colorado to NC to pick up a puppy (slept overnight there) and then drove back, all over Memorial day weekend. Just take a day and make an adventure out of it :D It will give you something to look back on years from then. Maybe you could get the breeder to meet you 1/2 way? Obviously no guarantee there, but you never know... maybe he/she would like to get away from the farm for a few hours?
