My vet said I should buy goat milk replacer for my orphaned babies. I am sure there is a recipe to make milk for them with cow milk. I have 2 does that I can get some milk from but not enough right now since they have thier own babies to feed. What I have done so far is seperate the mothers from their babies for about 10 hours, milk once a day and put them back with their babies until I seperate them again. So I am getting enough milk for 1 feeding. Does anyone have a recipe I can mix so I don't have to buy milk replacer?

Of course goat's milk is best, but when I don't have that, I use whole Vit. D milk from the grocery store and the babies thrived on that. No mixing anything in with the milk.

If you have access to even a little fresh, raw goat's milk, divide it up among the number of bottles you will be feeding and then fill them up with the whole cow's milk. Just cow's milk from the store is great, but so much better with any amount of raw milk added to it. Raw milk contains wonderful enzymes and good bacteria that will be protective of your babies.

That is what I will do then. Get what I can from my does and mix it with cow milk. Should I let them drink all they want or limit it. 2 of the babies are Mini Manchas (3/4 Mancha) 6 weeks old and the other is 4 weeks old and also mini mancha but I think it got all mini genes. She is very tiny. Her mother was the smallest doe I had. I don't want to make her sick by feeding too much.

I feed an ounce per pound. So if the goat weighs 10 pounds, then I would feed 10 ounces per feeding. Naturally you would adjust that to the goat's needs. It seems like most goats will stop drinking when they are full but some won't. So I don't like to feed until they quit drinking.
