Hi everyone! I've been spending a lot of time on the BYC board and just discovered this one! I very recently bought my first home and it's way out in the country and I'm newly single, so I'm free to be who I want and do what I want! Pretty exciting (My ex thought chickens was a horrible idea. The first thing I did when I moved here was get some!:D)

Looking forward to learning a lot from this board, I know the BYC board is priceless. I'd like to consider some other small farm animals, but I live alone so it's got to be something I can manage.

Can't wait to dig in and start reading some posts! Thanks!

Welcome! I think its great that you are living life how you want.
Well you know that chickens aren't hard, so whats a couple of turkeys? Or goats? I am married and my husband helps out when he is not working, but the chickens, turkeys, goats and one sheep that I have are all quite manageable by myself.
I went out this morning and fed and watered them all, I can shovel out the coops etc. I really think if you have the time and the housing for them then everything else is easy.
I have to admit that I do like that he carries the 50lb sacks of feed home from the feed stor.
For me that is probably the hardest part, stocking up on feed day and the unloading but I have had 3 back surgeries so I am not up to par in that department.
I wish you lots of luck and happiness on your new endeavor.
