frozen green beans

I froze a lot of green beans this past summer and no matter how I prepare them they get tough...not sure if its variety (blue something) or if i did something wrong (I have froze beans before)... anyways I have Atleast 20 qts left anyone have any suggestions on preparing them? I have boiled steamed and baked them....(green bean caaserole)

Sounds like Blue lake - that is a very common variety of green beans.
They usually are fine, so I am going to guess either they were a bit too ripe, or that growing conditions weren't favorable. We were in a drought all summer here in So MN, and most everyone I know didn't even get a crop. The ones that did had only a few and they were little and tough. The rest got them because they did a 2nd planting and harvested when it was cooling down towards fall.
We skipped most of our garden (a first) as hubby got a 15 hour a day seasonal job, and something had to give. :/
