After doing some research, my brother and I decided that we'd like to find some Gelbvieh heifers to rebuild our herd. The attributes associated with this breed will fit in with what we are trying to do and should provide a solid foundation to build upon in the future. I have talked with a few folks on here about cattle and greybeard told me about a good site for talking cow with fellow farmers/ranchers.
I'm still having difficulty finding heifers in these parts and would like to know if any of yall happen to have any that you'll be looking to sell this fall or can give me any leads. I'm after a modest number at first, 4 tops. If they do well and are everything they are cracked up to be then I'll pick up another 8 next spring and again in the fall. That will give us a nice little herd to select from.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated and I'll take any thoughts/opinions of the breed as well. Thanks a lot.
