I went out today and my buck looked like he ate a bee, upon looking closer his mucous membranes are white and it seems to be bottle jaw, my other buck looks almost as bad. They were wormed earlier this season and have been on a dry lot all winter :( what the heck? My angora doe looks fine and she's been on pasture for a week, the rams in the same pen all look fine. I had convinced myself to keep them up until june to try and avoid coccidia in the little ones and heavy worm loads for the adults, but it doesn't seem to have worked.

I gave them valbazen and some redcell. They're quite lethargic and anorexic today (they were "fine" two days ago!) I can't get a fecal until Monday at the earliest, any other suggestions for what I can do until then?

If it was me I would treat for cocci. It won't hurt them if they don't have it and will help if they do
Treat all of them, not just the ones that appear sick

I've been giving corid in the water, I have some sulmet. What do you recommend? I've given every one I could catch a dose of valbazen. Ans I ordered some other stuff for coccidia I just read about on here... forgot the name already! What a day...

Because we eat the meat and use the milk my vet advised me to use Dimethox.
It is still off label but does list a with draw time for milk and meat.
I live in the wet part of Oregon and my vet advised me to treat lambs and kids once per month for five days.
You mix the powder according to cattle instructions and then drench one ml per pound. So if kid is 20 pounds drench it with 20 ml.
Adults should have built up an immunity to some degree so I would not treat them unless they are showing signs of disease.
However be aware that all animals carry cocci. Stress can cause a sudden bloom in any animal.

You might try a different class of dewormer such as Cydectin which is a cattle pour-on but used as an oral drench off-label for goats/ sheep. I would also try Copasure which is a capsule filled with tiny copper wire fragments. This is gvn. every 6 months and helps aid in battling internal parasites. We have used it for a year now and very pleased with the results. I would recommend injectable B complex vitamins given weekly (you can't over dose on Vitamin B because whatever the body doesn't use is excreted in the urine). Copper, Vitamin B, and Vitamin C all work together with iron to help produce red blood cells. You also will want to give children's chewable Vitamin C tablets daily along with women's prenatal vitamins with iron daily also. I call this our "Bottle Jaw Coctail" and will usually snap a goat in this condition out of it in a couple of weeks. You also will need to deworm again in 2 weeks and during this time of treatment, make sure you pen them up and feed them a good grass hay and high protein diet. Hope all turns out well.:fl
