What are some good grasses and other plants to seed a pasture with for goats. I'm going to seed the big pasture before the goats are out there. Its mostly all sun very little shade, there are trees and bushes here and there too, its higher ground so its not swampy or wet, its silty sand mostly I believe. I live in Northern Michigan. I also don't want to be seeding this heavy every spring. Patch seeding and light seed broadcasting would be alright. I'm going to have a few acres tilled to plant this and I want to have a problem free nice area out there for the goats to run, play, and chow down on. My smaller pasture is mostly shade and is mostly rye grass, clover, and chicory.

I would check with your local agricultural extension agency as to what would grow best in your climate.
Should probably also get a soil analysis, which they could probably help you with as well.
