My goat has had a water sack hanging out of her for about 2 hours and she seems like she has stopped pushing. How long should I wait to try and pull the babies by hand?

Can you feel the kids position? I would give her about 4-6 hours. Keep her well confined and warm and quiet.

I wait one hour after they've stopped pushing like they mean it, and then I go in and investigate.
Usually the kid isn't in the right birthing position if they've quit pushing.

Well last night was a long night to say the least. I did go in and feel around but it was my first time so I had no idea what to expect. When I first went in I could feel something but wasn't sure what I later found out it was a baby that died many many weeks ago. So she eventually passed it. Well this morning there was no change she hadn't had a live or developed baby but I could feel one in her belly. I didn't even bother sticking my hand in her because I had no luck last night. I just loaded her up took her to the vet. He tried to put his hand in and could not get very deep. Her uterus was twisted and we chose to do a c-section on her. The baby she had left in her was dead by then which I already was sure of but it was HUGE and when I say huge it was bigger then any single boer or kiko kid I have had born here. This goat by the was is a Nubian.

Really sorry to hear about the babies. :(

Is mama doing OK today? Vet give you a good post-op recovery plan, wound care instructions, antibiotics schedule, etc?

Yes she is doing great. And the vet was very helpful and informative. We hated to lose the babies but she was much more important and we had other babies born this morning. So we are excited to make it out of this situation as well as we have.

Sorry to hear about the babies but very glad that the doe is fine. That is always tough. Always better to try and save mom in those situations. I have had the vet out to manually untwist an alpaca uterus and it is no fun. Glad you have a good vet that can handle these things.
