Hi guys!

When we first got our ND and our Mini La Mancha, their milk tasted perfect! After a couple weeks I noticed that they were nibbling on our newly planted pine trees and their milk is starting to taste "goaty". My boyfriend won't even drink it now lol! Is there a trick to keep goats from eating your plants, and trees? We have about 11 new pines so that would be a pain to fence (we just fenced in the garden too), so if there is any thing I can hang by the trees or spray that would make them less interested, I would definitely appreciate it! I miss our tasty milk :(

Only way to keep them from eating them is to keep them away from them. The easiest way to do is a temporary fence is with cattle panels.

Ohhhhh Pine trees, YUM YUM.

Yes, the goats will love your pine trees, and your milk will definately have a funky taste if they eat them. Better trim them off up high, and hope they don't eat the bark.

I don't know if spraying them with some of that bitter tasting stuff would keep them from eating the bark or not.

But yes, goats love pine needles.

Hahah you would think it was a gourmet buffet outside! They are constantly nibbling away on the trees! Alrighty I think I will look into some fencing and see if I can do some large squares around each tree that the goats can lean over....hmmmm...goats are tricky creatures lol!

I have had issues with my trees ever since my goats found out about the front yard. I have acres of browse around the barn area, and sometimes I just turn them loose to eat that so I don't have to weed eat. Well, today was one of those days. All these acres of hillside and good stuff, and I find them in the front yard stripping my pines and my flowering plum. I put them away, because I know that once Spicey finds out where the trees are, there is no stopping her.
