I was curious if high tensile wire fence would be adequate to keep goats in in a non electrified setup? Having to fence out a new yard at the farm and was trying to figure out a more cost effective way then going with woven wire. Was thinking 6 or 8 stand.

There was a couple on here a while back who bought raw land in FL that was jungle. They cut out fire breaks along their property lines and did HT fencing. They electrified theirs and I would highly recommend you electrify yours. If you don't, animals will touch it and if they don't get shocked will realize they can climb right through. Your goats will be like the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds". Not to mention the fact that predators will also feel free to come IN through an un-electrified fence... coyotes, stray dogs, etc.

You would just attach the positive lead to several of the lines, and then make the rest ground lines (as well as an actual ground rod). That way if an animal touched one of the hot wires while not touching the earth, they would still get shocked if touching one of the grounded fence lines.
