took a nice nubian doe home from 4-H fair last year to breed to our reg. nubian buck, going to charge 25.00, keep doe for 2mo to be sure bred, then they were to come get her. called at 3mo to remind about goat, no answer or reply. called in dec when she started to bag up. got a reply, will come give some money for breeding and board. assured us this doe had a huge udder, well she developed a small udder, had 2 buck kids i found dead. looked like she didn't even clean them up, so called em back, said i would rebreed. finally saw them at fair this year, he said"i have papers for you", so got the papers, the doe is due again pretty soon, so guess everyone wins. we did try to buy this goat after fair, but he wanted 500.00 for her. after seeing her bloodlines, i can see why. out of some awsome bloodlines and show stock. now if i can just get live kids this time.:/

That's just...weird.

I'd be asking myself, "What does he know about this goat that I don't?"

I personally know someone who relentlessly pursued a nubian doe, but her offers were rejected every time.. It apparently almost became sort of a running joke, until one day when the guy actually agreed to sell the doe. The lady who bought the doe was surprised and really thrilled...until she got a CAE+ test result.

She called the guy and said he pretended he didn't know what she was talking about.. :/

Or maybe he has/had other problems that are unrelated to the goat? Don't be to quick to judge without all the facts. The OP is happy and that's what counts.

Well, so long as everyone's happy, I guess there wasn't any need for me to relate a very similar story that might have gotten the OP to investigate the goat a little further and maybe catch a disaster before it had a chance to happen..

Oh well.

:celebrate

yes, we fed and wormed and trimmed her feet as if she were our own, but she is such a sweetheart, come right to you just to be rubbed, no escapeing on her own, but if she follows one out, she is the first one back(they usually take the gate off the hinges). so, what is one more mouth to feed. not too worried about cae, or cl, picked that up years ago before learning about it. do tell prspective buyers we have had these on the property.
