I have been stalking here for a while, and a member of BYC since April. Both sites are very informational.
I was born, and raised, in East Texas and will never leave this beautiful state. My heart belongs here. I have three horses, who I hold very highly and count as family. Mama, my mustang, is my right hand girl. I would be lost without her. I got her as a crazy three year old, with many MANY problems, and have known her since she hit the ground. I know her every move, when I am angry she is angry, etc. I'll try and keep her story short, but Mama is my pride and joy. She will never leave. Maya is my Trakehner mare, a retired jumper with tendon problems. She suits my mothers trail riding needs well, and is also a permanant member of our family. We healed her back from her breaking point, re-trained her for our needs [she still wants to ride rails if she sees them], and have enjoyed how her and Mama have become inseperable. Oakley is my latest edition, an OTTB. She's a crazy wired three year old who I can hardly afford to feed, and barely finish out under saddle. I got her to jump with, and she has proved she can jump well, we just need to accomplish a whole LOT more under saddle and a few more years before she starts competing. As of right now, Oakley is a pasture ornament as she's in a permanent growth spurt. She's grown four inches since October, I hope she fills her sires 17.3 hh frame.
I will be getting two goats from my VERY pregnant best friend to watch indefinitely for her, and to help clean my wooded acreage out. Stinky and Mama... I may have to change Mama's name because I can't have two running around! Mama is a boer, and Stinky is a boer x nigerian? whether, her eight month old son.
Then there's the dogs, Titan and Trixie. Titan is a ridgeless ridgeback that I got from a friend who had NO idea what he was getting into when he got the lion dog. I found Titan's breeder, and found out as much about him as I could. He's been with us for six and a half years, and saved my mothers life. [LONG story.] Trixie is my right hand girl. She's a red heeler x dingo, and a rescue. I bought her off a lady for 150 dollars in a wal-mart parking lot when she began to beat her for peeing in the seat. She apparently had 'just purchased' the puppy and was doing to get supplies... I would have peed in her seat too, if she beat me for little things like that.
I also have four ducks, too many chickens to count, two rabbits, and countless barn cats. Many of which will be going to a local shelter if they are not rehomed soon, two unfixed females shot my population up wayy too much for my comfort.
Then there's Skylar, my four year old nephew. He's a little monster I swear, but I love him none-the-less. My brother and Sky's mother just 'couldn't afford the day care' so I have him indefinitely as well. So far in his life I have NOT had him a total of 14 months, but I'm in no hurry for a custody battle... That's another story in itself.
Sorry this was so long, I just thought I'd give a GOOD introduction. Too much more I want to say, but will stop myself here! Belated Happy fathers day everyone!
