Just a scraggler from the BYC forum. Looking for good info and other resources for meat rabbits and dwarf dairy or DP goats!

Sorry LOL .. DP is dual purpose.. I dunno if they use that terminology for goats or not.. I am a chicken person, so I am used to using chicken terms :p

BTW, Thanks for the warm welcome folks!

Well, shucks....I thought maybe they'd invented a new kind of goat that I'd just *have* to run out and get. ;)

By dual-purpose, if you still want dwarf sized - pygmys are 'meat' goats and Nigerians are dairy, so if you crossed the two, you'd technically have a dual purpose dwarf goat.
The pygmy blood may lower the milk quantity, but both breeds are 'bulky' little goats who, if fed out properly, should butcher fine. Less meat than a standard, of course...but if you don't need much milk or meat, they'd give you what you want, at least in theory.

I myself prefer great ol' big udders that give me 8# of milk a day and that I can milk w/ more than 2 fingers.
