We have had plans to build a larger goat pen just because the area we have now is only about 12 x 16 feet for 2 adult pygmy goats and 1 kid. We had talked about using cattle panels, but the problem is transporting something that is 16 feet in length, even in a pickup, as we don't have a trailer or one we could borrow (but we had considered renting one for $25 a day). So we discussed we would use 50-inch height goat fencing, cemented in 4 x 4's at the corners and T-posts every 6 feet down the length of the fence and make it possibly 40 x 25 feet, because he thought what we needed was possibly 8 to 10 goats! I couldn't believe my ears! :woot I was the one that insisted we get goats and he kept dragging his feet because he was worried about them escaping. I was the one who took it upon myself to build a wooden privacy fence (it was only about 8 feet of fence added to an existing fence) and a gate for our goats that shares an 8-foot high hardware cloth fence with the chicken's run area. I then took it upon myself to purchase our first goats and had our granddaughters help me get them home. Ever since I've brought them home he has gotten an incurable case of G.A.S.! Having our first kids and realizing how adorable they are has clinched their presence on our homestead! I never thought I would hear that come out of his mouth, not in a million years!! He's really an ol' softy isn't he? LOL! :plbb And I didn't even say "I told you so."

My farm store rolled and tied the panels into a roll, for transport. Even making
a couple trips, could be cheaper than renting. Just an idea for you.

Lucky you. DH won't let me get more. I told him I could sell my doe and get a dappled Boer...and he said 'you could...'.

Eight to ten goats in a 25' x 40' enclosure? To my way of thinking that would only be modestly sufficient for the three you already have.

 Funny how your Dh has "turned"!

Since you have pygmys that's an okay area but to keep parasites down you would be basically dry lotting them if you ended up with 8-10 little guys out there.

We will probably end up making a much larger enclosure than originally planned. It will take time to do it and we will probably end up getting the goats gradually as a result as we make space. Thanks guys!
