In looking around for Gypsy Vanners we found this ad:

Coates Oliver .... http://www.royalcarouselfriesians.com/infopages.htm
Found this on the horse named in the ad...
Gypsy MVP Mare of 2010
May

This is Nala, a piebald mare for sale on Gypsymvp.com. Her dam was Lydia, and her sire Coates Oliver. I think she is a beautiful combination of her parents, having the best qualities of each. Nalas conformation is outstanding not to mention her beautiful appearance.
Nala has a great personality and she enjoys human company more than most. I have to laugh when I clean her because she seems to know she is gorgeous! Shes very easy to handle and fun to play with. I look to see her go far in the Gypsy Vanner world, because she has everything we look for in the breed. If I could have one Gypsy mare of all we have at the MVP Ranch right now, she would be the one I would want to own.

News Flash!!! Nala is in foal to Sundance Kid, this should be a fantastic foal in March of next year!!!!

The pic does look like a Gypsy Vanner, but you are right, there ain't no way that's the same horse.

Since when do you house break a horse???!!! "Does not bite?" I could go on and on shooting holes in that thing. . . .

Yes, absolutely, I have no doubt about it, that's a SCAM! :he

But good for you for spotting it. :thumbsup

Yeah, I'm pretty positive as well. I opened the picture files and as soon as I finished posting this thread, I was getting a black window with white text popping up every few seconds... Then I did a system restore to my computer, and when it finished and rebooted, I got nothing but a black screen. After a whole lot of research using another computer I finally got things to turn on again, and found that my anti virus and anti malware and internet had been turned off. They are always on, never turned off. I'm pretty sure it got hacked or something....

There have been some scams going with stolen horse information, they just copy stuff off the website
of another person. Seller doesn't actually HAVE the horse, but will ask for deposit or purchase price,
to "hold him" for you.

Other folks report THEIR OWN horse photo is being used on a sale site, or stolen copyrighted photos,
for sales ads.

So this totally looks like a scam, with the odd information about horse, even with switched sire and dam,
using the information like a person who doesn't have English as their first language. I would
agree with "house broke" being a BIG CLUE, they don't know what they are talking about as sellers.
Probably doing this on dog sites as well.

You might want to clue in the owners of Nala, that her information has been stolen, being misused as
a come-on to sell another horse.

I have heard the Feds got involved in at least one case like this,
with an inter-state money scheme and not getting the true purchased horses to the buyers.

I agree this looks like a scam. If you are interested, there is a small Gypsy Vanner farm in Tully NY that is getting out of breeding. I'm not sure if they have sold all of their horses yet or not or if their site is up to date but maybe it would be worth it to contact them and see if they know anyone else in the region if they have nothing available. Here is their website which has a contact form on it: http://www.creekrunfarm.com/

I also know of a man in a nearby town who recently had a pair of his halfinger mares posted for sale. I think if you googled halfinger and the town (truxton NY) it may come up.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOUR FAMILY'S.......
Thanks ,
Jessy.................
After this one my sister responded and said we're no longer interested. And the person responded...

Hello
My Wife was the owner of the horse and since she fell sick and was taken to the hospital 4 weeks ago, i only came in to look after the horse and give it a walk and feeding when necessary. Our parents decided that the horse should be given to a new home which is my Wife wish now.So i will be sending the horse to you with all the papers which i met here okay. So when you get the horse, you will have to check on the papers and confirm it with your vet okay. My parents are also happy that you are ready to take very good care of the horse as this makes my Wife very happy. She loves the horse and will be happy to see it in good hands. All your promises and assurance of offering it a good home has been taken into consideration and we are giving a go ahead with the adoption. The horse is good in health as my parents confirmed. so you will have to check the papers and update the horse where necessary when it gets to your home okay. Our Family is happy about the adoption and we pray that our sister gets better. it will be a pleasure for us to receive photos and updates from you about the horse when you get her so that my wife will feel so much better okay.As i told you, i will be sending the horse to you with every necessary hand booklet, shot records pedigree, accessories and vet records. There is nothing you should be worried of. You will have the best time riding this horse as it is a good horse for both starters and good riders.

I will be waiting on the shipping details. Extend our greetings to your family.

My best regards,
Jessy..
Sob stories... It kind of makes one wonder... But yes, I think I'll contact the owners of Nala, somehow.

Karma, thanks for that site! We've been to Tully before. They don't have prices listed on their site so I'm going to email them. :)

It's def. a scam.

I've never seen a GV for sale for $700. Ever.

I don't come across too many, but they've always cost a pretty penny. Even if it's never been touched.

Great job on your part for figuring it out.

This is very much a scam. The poor grammar and the way things are worded sounds alot like many Euro scams towards Americans.
