I have nigerian drawfs :love and wonder what is best for show/training a halter and do they make them that small or a collar. Also my DD is asking about baths for the little ones :idunno. What do I need to know/do that would be different than bathing any other 4 legged friend (I have dogs and horses).

I don't show, so I'll leave someone else to answer about show collars.

As for training collars, I buy the goat collars from Jeffers for my pygmies and punch extra holes to make them fit.

Bathing :hide In general goats HATE getting wet.

I hope someone chimes in on your questions. I was just about to write a post about bathing a goat. Im getting a Pygmy this weekend and was wondering about how to control the "goat smell".

We start with a nylon halter and switch to a chain collar for showing later on. the Rope halters cost around $3, Not sure how to explain. They do make them small enough though. And we have purchased ours from the feed store. I think it is this one.

Nothing out of the normal for bathing, wet down, soap up, and rinse off. We use wet wash clothes on the inside fo their ears. And hydrogen peroxide around their tag if it is crusty and dirty(if you have tags in their ears).

We use a livestock soap purchased at the feedstore, but I have used just Dawn dishsoap.

Thank you question on the halter. Does it go over the nose only or more like a horse over the nose with a strap behind the ears?
