Just had to share this! Gave me such a laugh.

So, yesterday it was about 29 degrees out, and (of course), it was the day I went to Lowe's to get a boat load of cut xmas trees for a great deal to give the goats--we're talking several dozen. I know, my pre-planning can leave a bit to be desired sometimes. Oh well :) Anyhow, we had two trucks, me and the kids were in one, and dad and my husband took the big truck. We were going back and forth, and twice I was there with just the kids to load trees.

So, the first time, this guy walks over to the truck, and says, "Excuse me, my wife and I were just wondering what you're going to do with those." I say, "Livestock feed." He says, "Oh, I was wrong then. I guessed you were making a fresh water habitat."

Second trip, when I was loading alone, another guy walks up, and asks, "Are you going to plant those?" I say, "No". He says, "What are you going to do with them?" I say, "Livestock feed."

I was too tired and cold to laugh out loud at them. And, my family and I had such a laugh when we caught up with each other, I wasn't even annoyed that neither of them would bother to take the time to walk over and watch and talk to me, and not offer to help! (Pet peeve of mine--if you're going to take the time to insert yourself into someone else's business like that, I think it's rude to not ask if you can help. JMHO, at least that's what we try to do and teach our kids to do.)

I couldn't believe those ideas were their first guess. Really? Fresh water habitat and am I going to plant them?

Plant them?! Ummm.....aren't they missing the roots?
Exactly! My husband told the kids if they planted one in the yard it would end up looking like a Charlie Brown xmas tree!

Honestly, if someone was going to guess, I really think firewood is a more logical idea. When the goats are all done, that's what the leftovers will become anyway.

People do use them for fish habitats. It's actually pretty common around here, and a good idea too. Not sure about the planting idea....maybe they thought you were going to graft them like they do fruit trees?? Who knows.
