Just found this site and had a few questions, which I'll post accordingly. I live in Colorado Springs, married, 2 daughters (1 is 11 and the other is Lord, help me). I read an article in Mother Earth News about rabbits and chickens, and started looking into them a little more. Not sure if the wife will let me keep critters in the back yard. Hopefully I'll be around a while, looking forward to pestering you guys with thousands of questions.

I agree with T.O.R! Fresh eggs from your own hens are way better than any store bought egg!

And my husband wasn't too thrilled with the idea of chickens (he dislikes birds in general), but now he's our "chicken wrangler"! And he always has to pick up "cinnamon" and love on her :p

Welcome neighbor! I'm in Laramie, Wyoming for college.

I very highly recommend raising your own rabbits. My former 4-H leader kept 20-30 rabbits in a garden shed in her back yard in town. I wouldn't recommend keeping THAT many, but a doe or two and a buck are easy to hide from suspecting neighbors in a shed or garage, or even the basement if you're brave.

Also a yes on the chickens :)
