My dd is DuckGirl89 on BYC and she has been trying to get me on here for awhile. We live on 22 acres of lush creek bottom pasture (this year that means muddy/swampy pasture). Back in 2009 we decided to leave the plugged in life behind and start a farm, so we bought some land, built our house ourselves, ran some fencing and bought some animals (not always in the correct order unfortunately). We started out with 11 steers, 3 red wattles sows, 8 Katadin ewes/3 dorper ewes/1 dorper ram, 6 boer goats, 6 Rhode Island Red hens and 1 Anatolian Shepard. We have changed things up a bit and now have 1 Dexter/Jersey heifer, 5 katadin ewes, 3 nubian does and 1 nubian buck, 16 Rhode Island Red hens, 1 pair of Bantam silkies, my daughters 12 ducks (welsh harlequin, rouen, ancona) and 3 Anatolian shepards. We love life with our animals and wouldn't trade it for anything.
