Hello! Great to be part of such a nice community!

My husband and I are looking for a free-standing rural rental home/farm in the vicinity of Denver/Littleton. My husband is an aerospace engineer who just got his dream job in the Denver area. I work in animal science. We are also homesteaders.

If any of you good folks knows of a place that would accept a dog, cats, ducks, and geese (we also want to get some goats in the future) and has room for a large garden, would you drop me a line?

A little bit more about us:

--We have excellent credit and excellent references
--We do not smoke
--We garden like crazy, and would be more than happy to share produce (and eggs) with our landlord
--We also make chocolate, and would be happy to share that, too

Thank you so much!

I used to live in the area you're moving to. :frowSo your husband got a job at Lockheed-Martin? I used to work there eons ago when it was Martin Marietta. I moved to Montana where I really don't have to worry about covenants or zoning.

I would recommend moving as far out of town as you can. Probably south toward the Palmer Divide if they haven't built that area up. It's pricey, but there are fewer restrictions on animals, I think.
:thumbsup

Good luck! :caf

Thank you SkyWarrior! Yes, Lockheed-Martin it is. I kept hearing that the Denver area was very pet friendly, so it's been disappointing to see so many renters who don't allow animals of any kind. We are determined, though. Thanks again!

I lived there for 30 years and my husband is a native from there. We had nothing but problems when we ran sled dogs. We lived in Conifer for more than 15 years (about as country as you can get) but were constantly hassled by neighbors. Denver has pit bull and wolf hybrid bans and a number of other counties do too. Be 100% sure of your zoning and the county rules where you choose. Even though I was in my right to have sled dogs, owning more than an acre and zoned A-1, I had to debark my dogs to keep my neighbors from calling animal control when they heard a dog bark in the valley. My dogs were mostly quiet anyway and it irked the heck out of me. :barnie

Goodness! That sounds awful. I understand why you moved to Montana. I grew up in the Midwest and am often mystified by just how animal-unfriendly the West can be. I thought it was open spaces and range out here :p

It is, but there are a lot of city folks that moved to Colorado.
