Hi all. I am looking forward to all the wonderful reading and the info from experienced folks out there. We have a 20 acre farm that started out with a few chickens and guineas. I now have chickens, guineas, lion head and wooly jersey rabbits, a 50x100 aviary for my ornamental and migratory waterfowl, a wonderful LGD, a choc lab.... and my newest addition which caused me to join this site is my 3 goats. I started out with a few to clear my pastures... but the bug has hit and I want more, more, more. They are just so much fun. One of my does is ready to kid anyday or maybe any minute.. I was one of those newbies who had to learn from experience that i need to breed and date arrival time. so i will be reading a lot on here while i run back and forth checking her. I know 2 of mine are pygmy. but I am not sure with her markings what she is exactly. but i plan to learn. Thanks to all who post so that the rest can learn something new... Nice meeting everyone on here.

:welcome hubby and i are also in illinois. we are near benton, in the southern part of the state. where might you be located? we have one member near chester and another one up near kankakee i think. we have the chickens, one guiena fowl(all the hens stole out to nest and got eaten. he stays in the chicken house) 16 goats at the moment (that is subject to change at the drop of a hat),mini horses, ponies, different breeds of rabbits (lionheads being one breed), and board a few horses. to guard all of this we have a pyreneese, a mini australian shepherd, a 3 legged blue heeler, 2 terrier types, and the newest addition 2 mountain cur pups. so we are kept pretty busy, but always have time to meet new people with the same interests as we have
