Hello from the Deep South of Mississippi

Hello everyone from southern Mississippi/NW Florida. I currently live in NW Florida on a third of an acre lot and have gardened for over 40 years and have raised chickens in the past. I purchased 40 acres of RAW land in southern Mississippi(Stone County) and am doing the initial clearing and getting ready to fence some of it. I have over 20 fruit trees in containers that I am planning on planting in the Fall, but have to fence in the area because of deer and rabbits. I'm getting ready to buy a shipping container and am looking at used campers to live in at first.

I am looking into getting some goats to help clear the land so wish me luck! lol

p.s. I have lots of huckleberry and blackberry(including dew

berries) everywhere.

Huckleberries! You are so lucky! I’ve looked everywhere for huckleberries! My grandmother used to make huckleberry jam, I loved it on biscuits.

I'm sure it will be challenging at times and delightful at times. We'll expect picture updates as you move along, and be thrilled with your venture. Glad you're fencing those trees from deer and rabbits. Make it a strong fence because those goats you mention as helpers -- they love fruit trees better than ANY deer alive. Trust me, I know!!!
