New to the group today. For my fifth bday I received my first horse, dogs were always around along with chickens and a mean Tom turkey. Later my Dad took me to pick up two calves in the front floorboard of his pickup truck. They were 2 or 3 days old and a lot of fun. We had hunting dogs and pigs too. Never did we have goats... Yep, you got it right, I bought a couple of 4 month old Nubian/Boer mix. And totally clueless. So when I say something that has nothing to do with a goat just ask me what I am talking about or have a good laugh at me. I called the large animal vet office quickly and asked if I could make an appt. to have my goat gelded. She asked me what I meant and I said my goat needed to be cut, castrated, I don't know, I want him to be a gelding. lol... I bet they got a good laugh out of that one. I quickly learned that my goat needed to be wethered and he would be a wether and my mare would be a doe. Proud to have found you. Look forward to meeting all of you here on BYH.

LOL - you brought back memories. I bred horses for a long time, so when I first got goats I couldn't wait for my first "foaling" to happen! Just wait - you'll be talking goat with the rest of us pretty soon!

Welcome, from Texas!

Welcome from east Texas! The terminology can get confusing can't it? At least you had the right idea.
