My name is Madison Harrison. I am new to backyard herds. I’ve been raising New Zealand rabbits for almost a year now and we just switched to American Chinchilla rabbits. I live in a small town in the Texas Panhandle called Canyon. We live right in the middle of town and are doing what we can to homestead and lead a sustainable life. We have 2 laying hens and 7 chicks, 2 breeding rabbits, a large garden and hopes to start raising quail this fall. Thanks for the community!

Welcome Madison Harrison. You live in a very popular area of the world. We have more than a handful of members who also live in Texas. Many of them travel on occasion to meet up with other members in Texas and surrounding areas. There is such a huge wealth of knowledge in BYH-BackYardHerds. It’s amazing. People are so friendly and welcoming and warm in here.

I have inherited one New Zealand rabbit from niece. He is the absolute sweetest rabbit I’ve ever owned. He will climb into my arms for attention. He even likes his cheeks and jawline rubbed. I’ve never seen such a friendly rabbit. He used to be a classrpet at my nieces school.

Welcome to the forum! We are on 8 acres north of Tyler, Texas. We used to live in the center of town in a small town north of Houston. I had backyard chickens and a garden. So I know where you are coming from. We now raise hair sheep, chickens and generally raise a couple of feeder pigs each year. Glad that you are here!

Are you a member of TEG? www.theeasygarden.com I'm Baymule there also. Join up, lots of great gardeners there!

I can, dehydrate and freeze the proceeds from the garden. Will be delighted to help you all I can!

Greetings and welcome to BYH from Tn! So glad you joined us. Look around and see what interesting stuff you can find. You'll get to "meet" folks at the same time. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Oh, and we all love pics, so post them anytime you feel the need! Please make yourself at home!

PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :old will never remember from this post & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
Welcome aboard!
