Welcome from another Virginian. Goats here, too.🥰. Meat and dairy. Yep, I milk 'em. Of course, chickens & usually are large garden...but, sadly not this year. 2024 it will get done👍😂

Tell us what your homestead efforts are and what's working well -- or not, since some things don't. Your grands participate? It's a good life for kids!

Hello,
Hope you are all having a wonderful morning! We have a busy household LOL.
At the moment we have two does awaiting birth this month. We have our goats in two pastures, have the bucks in one and the 7 does in the other. This is going on our fourth year of homesteading ,with trial and errors .We have chickens, ducks,African geese . Oh let us not forget the 6 outside mighty hunter cats they keep the rodents at bay! Hens are not laying much this summer with all the heat!

Husband and grandsons love the milk & the granddaughter makes cheese & yogurt.

I am in my late 50's and husband early 60's . Husband is retired and very much helpful on the homestead.

We have a few gardens and a 20x40 greenhouse we tend to.... which we grow in the winter under floating rows.
We live a natural holistic lifestyle. I am a learning herbalist in the making for quite a few years now.
Make my own tinctures as food and natural farmacy medicine. The Grands participate in everything on the homestead. Our granddaughter will be 16 soon she made the yogurt and cheese.
My husband made the first batch of cheese and did a good job! We all work together as a family to get things done on the homestead .We are now doing our own composting for our organic growing dirt , We tend to stay away from any chemicals. We live in Southern Missouri on the Ozark plateau which is solid ground and mostly rock a few inches down! No, nice good Iowa dirt where I grew up ! LOL....
The younger grandsons 10 and 7 have participated in milking the diary goats. The boys do much of the fresh watering for the animals & help Pa turn the compost .
I wasn't done and it posted . LOL Anyhow 😑

Hope you all have a good day. Will come back later and check.
Sincerely, Viktoria
