Not sure really. Coyotes and cougars are predators and if they want to take after an animal and it has the chance, it may. We have solid wire fences, hot wire, and livestock dogs to deter coyotes here. Even then, they sometimes get gutsy and come near but haven't chanced an attack yet. What is your set up right now for containing the goats and keeping predators out?

I have cattle panels in to hot wires on top in bottom I've never lost in animal to predators but we never had them this bad before I always put my goats up at nite in lock them up in my landlord also puts their dead livestock out in the field so I thinks that lures them here

If you know the dogs stay clear, find a chemical that doesn't do secondary damage and poison the carcasses. Maybe set traps or sit up at night and shoot the yotes when they come in on the carcasses.

Leaving carcasses out is illegal in many states for exactly this reason. I don't advise you risking your relationship with your landlord over this but maybe the two of you can find a better alternative. In my county, I get 6 free dead animal pickups a year, no questions asked. I can get two more if they investigate and find the cause of death is natural and not due to neglect.

We use dogs to keep out predators and so far have been successful. Can you trap the 'yotes?
