We have a 3 year old Nigerian Pygmy that WILL NOT stay in his pen! This is the first year he started doing this, and it began this spring. We usually let them out of the pen while we're home so they can wanted the large pasture and feed. But he does not like to go back. Most days, he is up when the sun comes out. He eats his fill of pasture and then hops right back over! He's good, stays in the yard but I'm sick of having him greet me at my car door when I come home from work!
We have a 4' Welded wire fence that is attached to wooden posts. We thought the fence was sagging a little since its a few years old and have done many repairs to it. However, he just keeps hopping right over it. No running start, just BOING- right over. I have heard that electric does not keep a goat in (especially one this determined), and I'm not going to use barbed wire (that sounds dangerous to a goat belly!) So any advise on how to keep this bugger in?! We wanted to build a second pen for them to rotate to this summer, but now I'm rethinking this.......
