Can you all help me understand?

We just had little triplets. Beautiful little babies. Our children named them after famous
explorers so we have: Louis and Clark and Ferdinand Megellan. :D

I thought they were all males because they all had little dangling things on the side of their jaws. I thought those were scent glands like males have, but now my son came in and said, "Mama, I'm sure Louie is a female." I looked up the difference and found Louie is actually
a female, but then what are those two little dangling things by her jaws?

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks so much!

Wattles? Some have them and some don't. I like them. I think they're so cute, although only my bucks have them so far.

I think they're cute. Some people hate them and snip them off though. It's a personal preference.

its a dairy goat breed thing...never see them on boers....at least real boers...if you intend the animal/wether for show they can be clipped off when they are kids...a show wether would be docked points because they "break up the line of the neck"....just saying...don't make the rules....

I don't like wattles...every year when the Toggs kid, I'm glad when we don't have one w/ wattles....dh is disappointed.

I'm *so* glad it's not common w/ boers, Nubs, and Obs....
