Does anyone on here have any experience with Herefords? How are they temperament wise? I found a breeder not too far from me and was thinking about getting a few. I just sold the last of my potbellies because I was wanting to raise some for meat.

77 Herefords has some or had some so he might give advice or you could pm him

Herefords are a good starter cow. They have a mild temperment and fairly protective mothers. They are great grazers.

I'm talking about Hereford Hogs

 77 thought you said you had some hereford hogs
:lau Didn't notice the forum section. Hereford hogs are pretty good but a little slow on the growth side compared with more commercial breeds. You'll find that with most Heritage breeds though. They are tasty though and made for good mothers.

 Thank you! Are they easy to handle/work with?

I hate to Generalize but it really depends on how they were raised. My sows were good with it but my Boar not so much. My new Boar on the other hand is friendly and nothing like my old boar was, of course he's not a Hereford, he's a cross between a Tamworth and a Large Black.

I sold my Hereford sows and their piglets.

I now have two crossbred sows with nearly weaned piglets. They are Duroc X Yorkshire X Old Spot X Hampshire.
