Hi everyone! I'm Carmen from NW Kansas. Grew up out here on a corn/wheat farm with a small cow/calf herd. Got married, moved away, moved back after he retired from the military. I have 2 grown up boys from my 1st marriage and a 14 yr old daughter (born in Germany) with my hubby. Also have 2 grandchildren. We bought about 20 acres of a farmstead and pasture that was owned by my family.

Right now we have: Nigerian Dwarf goats both registered and grade

Horses 2 QH mares and a QH stud colt; a mustang mare; an Arab gelding and an Appaloosa/Arab mare
2 BLM adopted burro geldings
2 llamas
5 mini pigs and one potbelly
chickens, guineas, turkeys, and peacocks
1 dog and 2 cats in the house, numerous barn cats

Welcome from Colorado. Love your avatar. I also have a barn cat, but just one and our house cat might move out there. Lost his brother this July.

Welcome from Ohio! Sounds like you have plenty to stay busy with! Do you milk any of your goats?

No I am NOT ready! It needs to just skip over us! Filled water yesterday. Have to fill hay feeders today and then I'm as ready as I'll ever be. It was originally not suppose to hit until tonight but they moved it up to afternoon and thru Monday into Tuesday was the last I heard. I absolutely ABHOR winter.

Yes, we do milk. Unfortunately, things aren't going too good with the goats right now (long story) and we probably won't milk until the ND kid. And I'll be breeding them for fall kidding instead of our usual spring. I'm hoping I'll be able to get one of the standards into milk, but not holding my breath on that one. I make cheese and soap when I have the milk and will be trying lotion.

Another big howdy and welcome from the Great Lone Star State, where the stars at night are big and bright! What? No partridge in a pear tree? Just messing with you because your list of animals would be three full time jobs! So, grab yourself a beverage from that there table and come sit for a spell. I'm sure you could use a break. I'm looking to try making goat milk lotion so maybe we should swap our working recipe?

Glad you found us! Looking forward to reading about your adventures with your animals.

LOL Sometimes it is more than one full time job. I played out today and couldn't finish helping. Hubby is using tractor to fill feeders (I think....he's awful slow)
I have yet to make lotion. I did make lotion bars but they are really greasy in my opinion. I just found a lotion recipe I think I'm gonna try. Just got to get the time and energy to do so
