Hi! We live on 17 mesquite and huisache filled acres in South Texas. We are fairly new to hobby farming and are learning as we go. We have been here 3 years. We were very excited and went crazy acquiring animals when we first moved here, and have drastically downsized due to severe drought and the amount of money and work involved to maintain everyone. We are down to 1 beautiful half quarter horse half hackney pony gelding that I have owned for 6 years, (I also ended up with the cowboy I bought him from!
) We also have 2 cows who just had their first calves last fall, 1 polled hereford bull that we raised, 2 nubian mix goats and 1 billy, 2 rescue dogs, and a nice flock of chickens. Everyone has a name except for some of the chickens. Joe is retired and I am not. I have 1 grown son who cares nothing about the country life. He can't believe I would live somewhere that doesn't have DSL or cable. Steph
