37 year old mama of 10 and one on the way!
We have a small homestead with chickens (meat and layers), rabbits and a new milking goats! Also a big garden!
Here to ask all my goat questions as we delve into this new territory. Nothing like the hands on experience of others, so thanks in advance.
Pleased to meet you :)

Welcome to the forum. Always glad to have new members here. If you don't mind, would you please add your general location to your avatar? Advice can be different for different locations. Thanks!

Miss @mlamson,

Welcome to Back Yard Herds! To answer your question on how to update your location, in the upper righthand corner of the BYH window, you should see your username "mlamson". Click that. You should then see this dropdown menu:

Click the "Account details". You will then go to a page that will look something like this on the left side of the window:

Click the "Account details" below the ">> Settings" menu, if it is not already selected. Then on the right, you should see something like this, only your field will be blank:

Fill in your location, and whatever else you would like to share, then click the "Save" at the bottom of the screen.

Miss @mlamson,

Something I forgot to mention -- many people (though not all) start a journal in about themselves and their farms and ranches. If you would like to do so, you can get to the normal location for the journals by clicking the "Forums" tab in the upper left, then going to the bottom of the page you will find the grouping "Social", then the forum "Member's "BackYardHerds" Journals". Once you are on that forum, pinned at the top is a suggested format to follow for your initial post. To start your journal, click the "Post thread" button on the right.

Of course, you do not have to start a journal. A prominent member on this forum, Miss @Baymule", who has posted more than anyone else on this forum, does not have her own journal. Instead, she starts new threads on whatever topic she would like to discuss. (It was her thread "I hate green briars!" that was so funny that it led me to join the forum!) So finding her posts can be like a treasure hunt but well worth it.

Hope this helps!
