Hello, Everyone!
My name is Daniel Rackley. My family and I have a small 40 acre farm in Central Oklahoma. Our farm currently consists of a few horses miniature horses, and donkeys, a small (9) but productive herd of dairy goats (a mix of dairy breeds, but more nubian than anything else), our NZ White rabbits (5 does and a buck), a handful of chickens, a peahen (looking for a peacock), a tom turkey (looking for a few hens), four barn pigeons who are always intent on the goings on, a lab mix rescue who adopted us, and a Great Dane named Zeke who swears he's just a tiny little chihuahua...LOL!
I'm also a member of dairygoatinfo.com forum (hope that's okay to mention...if not just trim it, please) which has proven to be most beneficial while acclimating myself to goats and goat hubandry. I am always eager to learn, and willing to share our experiences in the hopes of helping someone else. I really like the fact that this forum has a multitude of discussion forums for a number of species, and all in one spot!
My family and I are gearing toward self-sufficiency. We are pretty good gardeners, but can always learn more. We use goat milk, instead of store bought milk (even make cheese and soap with the milk, it also makes a GREAT fertilizer for plants at a 1/20 milk/water ratio!). Our chicks should start laying just about any day now. We also use chickens for meat. We haven't butchered any rabbits yet, but plan to. I have tanned a few hides, and plan to use all of the rabbit pelts.
I would like to thank each of you, in advance, for your input!
