Hey all,
We just got a new young buck a couple of weeks ago and when he came to us his hooves were really overgrown to the point where one of his back hooves was totally lopsided when he walked. It was horrible, and we've been trimming them back to normal and checking his feet regularly since he got here and he's walking so much better.
Today though while trimming one of his back feet I noticed a fairly big lump in between his toes that seemed like it was either bleeding or had been bleeding recently. It didn't seem to hurt him when I tried to touch around it to clean some dirt off. It didn't smell like anything in particular. I didn't try to push on it to see if any pus or anything came out. He hasn't been limping or favoring the foot anymore, he walks and runs normally.
Could this be some kind of abcess as a result of walking lopsided on his overgrown hoof for too long? Should I try and treat it somehow or just let it heal now that he can walk normally?
Thanks!
