hoof trimming

i was trimming hoofs and thought i was doing well. then i discovered that i had cut too deep and she was bleeding. i cleaned her off and applied iodine and isolated her in a clean stall. any advice for rookie hoof trimmer

Does this help? I am new to goats and have yet trimmed my kid's hooves. I think you have done a great job already...even though you have trimmed a bit too much. I think the key is to do a little bit at a time...under trimming is better than over. As you as you keep it a routine, I think that's more important. Listen to me, I need to go out right now to trim my kids' hooves!!!

Cheyenne pepper stops bleeding almost instantly and is good to have on hand when trimming.
