How do you all keep your bulls? I have a 3 month old that we got out of one of our angus cows that is AMAZING. We may want to keep him as our ranch bull. But how do we keep him? All I can think of is a small pasture with hot wire around it. Do you think that would contain him?? Pictures would be GREAT! :)

When do you wean your calves? If you have any steer calves, I don't see any problems with keeping him in with your steers, but I guess that's only if you don't wean them on the truck or sell them as soon as they're weaned and don't background them afterwards.

Have you also thought of keeping him with the other bulls? I don't think that would hurt either, bulls are usually good together if they are not the same size or age as the other.

Ours was staying with our steer, now all are together, the plan is for rest of year, until new calving starts next year. Our bull is small (young & still growing), about the same size as our steer, really good natured & easy going, even with our "problem child"calf, he has been licking him very attentive. I just put them (steer & bull) together with the rest of the cows & calves. It has been a couple months since they were together & he has grown considerably in size & condition. I have seen on several occactions the herd matriarch (my wife has anther name for her), try to asset her dominance over him (she has probably 500 lbs on him) by pushing/shoving him on all occasions he has held his ground pushing her right back. Im looking forward to him getting a little larger to really keep her in line. I should add though, we don't have any heifers that are too small to be bred only mature cows and a 3 month & 1 month old heifer calves, once we have those worries it will be a little different story & I will probably separate off the 2 young heifers which are not related to him.
