Loving the herd life
My son showed his goats at the fair for the first time. He just got Toggenburgs this year. He has 3 of them. One two year old got Champion overall. My son's 5 month old baby got Reserve Champion. The competition was scarce but the comments from the judge were nice. He thought the baby would turn out even nicer than the 2 year old the got Champion overall. Also, later, a woman came by the pens and ooohed and awwed over them saying she used to have Toggs, asked what lines they were from, and said they were very nice Toggs. We're clueless and, like I said, the competition was scares so it was nice to hear someone (other than the judge) else say they were nice.
Aaaanyway, the next day, a man came by the pens and asked if we'd sell the mother of the baby to him and asked our price. I could not tell him any price since my son was given this doe when she was pregnant and bought the other one for almost nothing. They were kind of a gift from a goat exhibitor/4H county goat project leader where we used to live.
So.... I told the man that you can expect to pay at least $250 for 2 month old dairy goat here. That's what all the 4H diary goat project members told us. So, what do you think is a reasonable price for her? She took second to the overall Champion but their were only two in the class. The judge said the winner was nicer (showier/better condition) but that this other doe (the one the man wants to buy) is "very dairy" - more so than the other one.
I emailed the lady that gave my son the goats but I know she takes forever to get back to people via email and she can hardly be reached by phone. So I'm asking here.
Any help/suggestions as to price? 'Cause I'm just![Hu :hu :hu](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/hu.gif)
