My pygmycross (not pure pygmy, but small as one) doe has been confirmed preg by my vet, but she only saw one spine on ultrasound. She said she doesnt think there is another one in there - she keeps a herd of 70 show pygmies herself, so I feel she probably is right.

She said Sophie is more than 90 days, most likely to deliver in 4 to 6 weeks. I dont know the breeding date on Sophie, just got her a few weeks ago from a guy who had no clue.

So my vet said to go ahead and increase her grain now. She said up from 2 cups a day to 3 or 3 1/2, total. And to go slow on the increase. Does that sound about right?

Im worried if she only has one baby, it will get huge and have trouble delivering. Should I be concerned?

Supposedly Sophie has had babies before w/no problem, but I dont think she was well cared for, and supposedly had triplets her last kidding (but who knows if the guy was making that up!).

Advice on how much to feed her to keep her healthy without risking a huge kid?

On a side note- I have had 5 sons in a row myself, so I am pretty sure her kid will be a boy. Just be my kind of luck.... :gig

That sounds like a lot of feed to me, for a pygmy doe only carrying one kid, but the vet probably knows what she is doing, since she raises them. I would think if you are feeding good quality hay and stay with the 2 cups a day, until after she kids that she would be fine.
