How old should a buck be?

Depends on the breed. A very general guideline is 6 mos. Some bucks are late bloomers; my NZW buck didn't figure it out until almost 9 mos.

He can be used for breeding as soon as he figures out what to do. With most, that's around 6 months or so. Some figure it out early, as early as 3 months in some cases. Others are late bloomers, and don't figure it out until much later.

i let my 3 mon old red out in the yard with some does not thinking about it, then it mounted one and had to quickly seperate em. 6 Months has worked for me but it mostly depends on their weight i think. once my bucks hit 9-10 lbs there ready to go, 10-11 for the does(usually 8 mon
