i have some sweet bunnies that live in outdoor hutches and would love to bring them inside for "floor time" but they are not litter box trained. i have tried litter training them but they are in a huge cage on the ground and i would rather not litter train them anyways.... but is there any way to bring them into a bunny-proofed room (that has carpet) without them having accidents all over the floor??? maybe a diy (free) playpen? putting plastic and newspaper all over the floor?

Hm, when I have to bring in my rabbits, I put down trash bags (over lapping so pee doesn't seep down to the floor) with newspaper over top and that keeps pee and poo of the floor pretty well.

We have our bunnies litter box trained for pee. Then all you need is to a have the litter boxes available when the are out running around. Makes it easier to compost the pee, just dump the whole box, wash and refill, and controls the stink big time when they are in since the urine is what really smells bad. We use the pine pellets in the box and would put their hay in it to train them while in their regular cage. Now they know to pee there. Poops just need to be swept up off a tile floor so that is easy. :)

Oh yeah, and bath mats, the kind you put on the floor outside the tub to catch drips when you get out, are typically rubberized on the bottom. That makes them good covers for carpeted areas when bunnies are out. If the mats are old, they might leak if bunny pees alot (new ones work really well), but if you are playing with the bunnies, you should be able to scoop up the mat and remove it once it is soiled so it still saves the carpet underneath. Bunnies prefer to pee in corners, so keeping the corners of their play area bath matted or litter boxed will help.
